Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studios or small home studio environment. This spectacular dresser box, circa 1890's, was created in a home studio by a skillful artist. The round, embossed box is gently ribbed like a sea shell with embossed sea weed design around the base. The motif on the lid portrays a beautiful formal garden setting with misty green/gray foliage and building in the background. The foreground shows a white marble wall, with large urn of pastel pink floral positioned at one end. Seated on a marble bench is a Victorian lady dressed in a pastel blue, yellow and white gown. Leaning on the wall from the back, a Victorian gentleman in formal red waistcoat is offering the lady a bouquet of delicate flowers. The remainder of the covered box is decorated in a soft lemon-yellow.
The round box measures 6" across and 3" in height. It is stamped in blue "Leonard Vienna" and initialed and dated by the artist "C A H '96". There are no cracks, chips or repairs. A very special piece for your collection.
