"Occupied Japan" Figurine - Cherub or Angel Sitting on a Sea Shell

Occupied Japan is a tern used from the period from 1945 (after World War II) though April 24, 1952. Items manufactured during this period was to be so marked.

This is an adorable figurine of a Cherub or Angel sitting on one end of a open sea shell. The hand-painted figurine has a satin, unglazed finish in soft pastel shades. The pink and white ribbed shell with raised gilt dots rests on a base of swirling waves of aqua colored water. The Cherub or Angel sits on one end guiding the vessel, draped in a pink flowing ribbon, blue wings, blond hair and cute face. The items measures 5" in length and 4 3/4" in height. The base is stamped "Made in Occupied Japan". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
