Independent Order Of Odd Fellows Fraternity Cup & Saucer - Circa 1800"s

The Independent Order Of Odd Fellows (IOOF), also known as the Three Link Fraternity (Friendship, Love and Truth), is a global altruistic and benevolent fraternity. With its beginning in England in the 18th century, it spread to North America and Canada in 1819 and expanded throughout the world.

This wonderful and rare early cup and saucer was produced expressly for the fraternity, circa 1850. Probably of English origin, it is decorated with IOOF symbolism in shades of dark crimson and green. The borders have a wide band of pink luster. Both pieces are inscribed "Independent Order Of Odd Fellows" and the cup also has the words "Unity Is Strength".

The deep saucer, for cooling your hot beverage, measures 5 1/2" across and 1 1/4" in depth. The cup is 2 1/2" in height and 3 1/2" across. Unmarked as to the maker. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; minor fading of luster bands. A great early fraternal item.
