Pickard Studio Hand Painted Cabinet Plate w/Poinsettia Motif

Pickard, Inc., the premier Chicago decorating studio was founded by Wilder A. Pickard, who was born on a farm near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. His first studio was located in Edgerton, Wisconsin, and soon was relocated to Chicago where it still exists today. The largest and most famous decorating Chicago studio, Pickard attracted the best of the best artists of the time.

This lovely hand painted cabinet plate, circa 1905-1910, is decorated with several poinsettia flowers in shaded deep red, accented with green stems and leaves in tones of green, brown and tan. The background is a soft pastel creamy yellow with light blue and medium pink highlights. The gently scalloped edge is trimmed with gold and additional gold ornamentation.

The plate measures 8 5/8 across and is stamped with the green Rosenthal porcelain mark, circa 1898-1906. It is also stamped with the Pickard Mark #5, brown decal, circa 1905-1910. The plate is artist signed "F. James" for Florence M James who worked for Pickard from 1903-1922. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Beautiful plate with vivid coloration.
