Theodor Fahrner (Germany) Art Deco Sterling Marcasite & Aquamarine Brooch

Theodor Fahrner, at the age of 24, in 1883, took over his father's business and workshop in Pforzheim, Germany. His jewelry designs contained lots of enamel, sterling silver and faceted colored stones. His designs were referred to as between avant garde and traditional. In 1901, the TF trademark was introduced. In 1919 Thoedor died and the firm was purchased by Gustav Braeydle. During the 1920's and 1930's the deco style was introduced and was particularly desirable. The firm dissolved in 1979.

This elegant deco-styled brooch, circa 1920's, is his deco at its best. The motif resembles a ribbon threaded through a buckle. Constructed of sterling silver and set with rows of numerous marcasites. The center is adorned by a prong mounted faux emerald cut aquamarine. The brooch measures 2" in length and 5/8" in width. Equipped with a safety-lock mechanism. Marked on a cartouche "Original Fahrner - TF - 925" There is no damages or missing marcasites; retains its original aged patina; very slight, no harm bend, in the closing pin. Great period piece by an excellent designer and company.
