William Alsager Adderley Blue Transfer-Ware "Spero" Pattern Platter

William Alsager Adderley & Co. (W A A & Co.), Daisy Bank Pottery, Longton, Staffordshire Potteries, England, 1876-1905.

This lovely platter is the "Spero" pattern and consists of a wide, embossed fluted designed blank which is decorated in a dark blue transfer stylized floral and leaf design of the era. The platter measures a very respectful 15 1/4" in length and 12" in width. The stamped mark is a ship encircled by a chain "Spero - Trade Mark -WAA & Co." It is impressed "Opaque China", "3/12" and a part of the English Registry Mark. A blue "13" also appears. This stamped mark was used from 1886-1905 when Co. was added. There are no cracks, chips, stains or repairs. Great size and design.
