French L.R.L. Limoges Hand-Painted Game Plate w/Two Birds
For those "bird watchers" and/or "game plate" collectors this beauty is for you. The motif consists of two game birds done in shades of brown and white against a background of buttery yellow and shades of medium to dark green accented with ground foliage. The china blank measures 9 1/2" across with a sculptured shape and embossed arches and scrolls surrounding the border which is edged with gold. The underside is drilled for ease of hanging. Stamped in green "Limoges France" and a crown over "L.R.L. - Limoges France" which designates Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman who operated a decorating factory during the 1920's, known for their portrait and figural works of art on porcelain. Signed by the artist; difficult to decipher, but appears to be 'Brahiez". There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Wonderful game plate.
