Celia Sebiri, New York, (1913-2006) enjoyed a jewelry designing career that spanned more than thirty years from the 1960's - 1990's. She was instrumental in paving the bridge between costume and fine jewelry and was a winner of the Cody award in 1973 for her jewelry designing. Her hand-crafted pieces were sold in such prestigious stores as Neiman Marcus, Saks, Sakowitz and high-end boutiques. She also designed for Avon in 1987. Her daughter, Karen, worked with in designing works of art.
This lovely and delicate pair of clip earrings, circa 1970's, consists of an oval dark blue cabochon, which I believe is a type of agate. The color and internal natural pattern, though different, is wonderful in both pieces. The cabochon measures 3/4" in length and 1/2" in width and are bezel mounted. Each earring is hand-signed "C Sebiri"; the silver fittings have their original patina. Excellent condition. As the photos show, the clip arm on one earrings has been replaced and is larger than the original one. This will not be noticed when worn. The price reflects this replacement. Great set from an American designer.
