Frank Pennino founded the Pennino Jewelry Company NYC in 1926 making watch cases and fine costume jewelry using quality Austrian rhinestones and crystals and has the look of actual gemstones that were mounted in 14k gold plate or sterling silver. The company was very popular in the 1940's, known for fine designs and workmanship. The company ceased operations in 1961.
This truly classic brooch, circa 1950, has a simple motif of flowing ribbons holding a fan. The fan is composed on individual wires each hold a prong-set clear diamond rhinestone of various sizes. Several of the shorter ribbons are also rhinestone studded. The brooch measures 3" across and 2 3/4" in height. Stamped "Pennino - Sterling", the brooch is in excellent, near mint condition. Beautiful.
