Old Hall Company, England, Red Transferware "Excelsior" Pattern Soup Plate

The Old Hall Earthenware Company, Ltd, Old Hall Pottery, Hanley, Staffordshire, England was in existence from 1861 - 1886.

This colorful red transferware soup plate in the Excelsior pattern features a lovely aesthetic design by Christopher Dresser. In the center are cartouches of a sailing ship, woodland landscape and geometric designs. The wide flared rim has an overall puzzle-like pattern. The soup plate measures 9 3/4" across and has no cracks, chips or repairs. The English Registry mark indicates a date of January 1, 1880, as well as the stamped mark "Old Hall - England - E' Ware Co" and "Excelsior". Great design and color.
