The Wheeling Pottery Company of Wheeling, West Virginia, was organized in 1879. Around 1890 the company introduced the "LaBelle" series of decorated white semi-porcelain ware. Included in this series, circa 1893 - 1903, was a flow blue decorated ware. This wonderful footed bowl is from that segment. Boat-shaped with wide, scalloped rim and four leaf-like feet, it measures 8" long, 7" wide and 4" high. The decoration consists of sprays of small flowers and gold high-lights and trim. The stamped mark is a flame with eagle's head on each side with the letters W P beneath and "LaBelle China". The shape, color and condition is great, with no cracks, chips or repairs; overall light crazing.
