"Oriental Gentleman" Figural Laundry Sprinkler Bottle

A sprinkle on ironing day kept the wrinkles away. During the post was period many unique items for the housewife began to enter the market place. The decorative laundry sprinkler bottle took on the shapes of irons, clothespins, elephants and humans. Among this group was the "Oriental Laundry Proprietor" character sprinkler bottle. This popular version depicts a gentlemen attired in work uniform and holding an iron in his left hand.

This bottle, circa 1950's. stands 8 1/4" in height and is unmarked as to the maker; probably one of the various California potteries active during that era. It is pictured in "Collectibles for the Kitchen, Bath & Beyond - A Pictorial Guide", by Bercovici, Bryson & Gillham. It retains its original sprinkler top; has no cracks, chips or repairs; some minor age related crazing. Ready to impress your friends about ironing days past.
