T Furnival & Sons Polychrome Transferware "Hawthorn" Platter

Thomas Furnival & Sons, Elder Road, Cobridge, Staffordshire Potteries, produced earthenwares from 1871 - 1890. This wonderful large platter, which will easily handle your holiday roast, is decorated in a polychrome transferware design of branches of shaded soft pink, yellow and white apple blossoms with grayish-green leaves with gold highlights. The gently scalloped edge is also trimmed with gold. The platter measures an impressive 16" long and 13" wide with a deep well center. Stamped mark "Hawthorn - T. Furnival & Sons - Staffordshire Potteries" and also impressed "Furnival" and several numbers. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; light crazing and moderate gold wear on the trim. A lovely platter for display or use.
