Swift-Footed Iris....daughter of Thaumas, an ocean god, and Elektra, a cloud nymph, Iris was both the goddess of the rainbow and the messenger of the gods...sometimes also referred to as storm-footed, Iris had golden wings and polychrome robes that lit up whatever space she fleetingly inhabited. This necklace is like a rainbow over storm-tossed seas. A stream of naturally hued tourmaline spheres flows between colours, ranging from pale pink to deepest chrome green. The finely faceted stones are approximately 8mm in diameter, and comprise a total weight of 256 carats. Like Iris with her golden wings, the tourmaline gemstones are interspersed with granulated discs of 18 karat gold, and at the centre of the stream there is a triad of tourmaline teardrops wired on 18 karat to form an arc. The necklace finishes with an ornately granulated box clasp of 18 karat gold, and is accompanied by teardrop briolette earrings of rubelite tourmaline.
The necklace measures just under 19.5"; the earrings drop 1/2" from 14 karat gold wires. This rainbow set ships in a gift box.
