Elements in Motion...part of my Vertentia collection, which features jewels with a gem or pearl that turns in its setting, this ring spotlights a lovely, smooth-skinned and lustrous freshwater pearl of a dusty rose with shifting peach and pink overtones. The colour is natural, the lustre is bright, and the surface is close to perfect, with only a shadow of a growth ring on one axis. Visually round, the pearl is gorgeous.
I set the pearl in a band that I created from argentium silver after an ancient Greek design. It comprises a fused double-wire shank with fused side coils to hold the pearl. The pearl turns freely and securely in its riveted setting. Argentium silver is a sterling silver alloy that contains 1% germanium to keep tarnishing to a minimum. This ring is completely hand-fabricated by me, and, in keeping with its roots in antiquity, I have not fully removed the tool marks and have polished it just to a soft sheen, rather than a hard, modern shine...it is meant to feel like a jewel from a long-ago city state, Chios perhaps...or Corinth....
Simple, elegant and kinesthetic, this ring is a size 5 and ships in a gift box.
