Captured Pearl - this ring is one in a series, and part of my new "Scintillans" collection. The band is hand-forged sterling silver, brought around to capture an engaging freshwater pearl. The pearl's fully natural colour is peach, with rich pink undertones; there are faint growth rings and the lustre is mirror-like. At just under 9mm in width, the pearl is held in place by tension and rivet, which allows the wearer to spin the pearl in its setting, so that from the top it can look like an oval or it can appear round. The outside of the band is textured, which provides an eye-catching contrast to the smooth skin of the pearl. The inside of the band has a matte finish. The ring is a size 5.25; because of the width of the band (5mm) and the height of the pearl, the easiest way to fit the ring on your finger is by holding it horizontally, slipping your finger in, and then turning the ring up vertically.
The design is at once ancient and modern; this unique art ring ships in a gift box.
