This lovely plate is handpainted with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamels of green, pink, red-orange, turquoise, yellow and gold. It dates c.1820 and was made by John Rose & Co. of Coalport. It is 8-5/8" (21.9 cm) in diameter.
The condition is fair. The plate has a hairline crack which shows on both front and back. It shows crazing and areas of brown discoloration due to the crazing.
This Coalport plate has Godden's mark 944, an impressed 9, and an interesting workman's tally mark in green on the inside of the foot rim.
