This fantastic hanging painting of antelopes, hyenas, and a huge snake measures about 47-1/2" (121 cm) wide and 32" (81 cm) high. It is composed of 7 strips of coarsely spun cotton cloth.
I have learned that men weave the strips on a horizontal loom, and women sew them together. The cloth is then painted with brown or black fermented mud. Made by the Senufo people of the Ivory Coast.
Condition? One of the strips has come un-sewn for a few inches, an easy repair. See photo # 6.
