Pink Sunderland Lustre Mug with Splash Lustre Decoration, Antique 19thC English
It is rare to find a solid splash lustreware piece. Most seem to have pictures and mottoes. The pink color comes from a thin gold solution on a white body, and the "splash" is from being splashed with oil to create the interesting mottled effect. Although is usually called "Sunderland lustre", these wares were also made in Liverpool, Bristol, and Staffordshire.
