Worcester Coffee Can, Flight, Barr & Barr, Gilded, Antique c 1820

This lovely coffee can looks as if it were made yesterday, instead of 200 years ago. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, no cracks, no repairs, and no wear to the gilding. It rings when tapped.

The can has the impressed crown and FBB (for Flight, Barr & Barr). This can shape can be found on page 94 of Berthoud's "Compendium of Cups", and is dated 1820-25. The can is 2-1/2" in diameter, and 2-3/8" high (not including the handle).

The handle is derived from the "London shape", with the addition of feathering at the top.
