This simple and sweet Staffordshire porcelain cup and saucer has a brown transfer of two birds, and a pale orange lustre border. The set is made of soft paste porcelain or bone china, and is translucent. Note that the birds on the saucer are not colored in, as they are on the cup.
The condition of the cup is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no repairs. It rings when tapped. The cup is 2-5/8" (6.5 cm) high.
The condition of the saucer is very good. There are no chips or repairs, and I cannot see or feel any cracks, but it does not ring when tapped. The saucer's diameter is 5-1/2" (14 cm).high.
There are no maker's marks or pattern numbers. The Transferware Collectors Club database has given this pattern the provisional name "Pheasants". They date it c.1860.
