Copper Lustre Jug/Pitcher,Sunderland Splashed Lustre Bands, Antique 19thC
This attractive medium sized pitcher (or jug) stands about 4-3/4" high. The splashed pink lustre (known in the USA as "Sunderland Lustre") looks fabulous against the dark copper color. The jug is made of a brown earthenware, and has a white slip interior.

This jug is in excellent condition, with no chips, no cracks, and no repairs. It rings when tapped. It is not marked by the maker. I date it c. 1840.
By the way, because the copper lustre is so reflective, it photographed with sort of a vertical band. That is merely a trick of the light.
