Victorian Gold and Taille d' epargne Enamel Earrings
It isn’t often we find earrings of this period that are authentic, complete and in excellent condition. This type of enamel was popular with jewelry fanciers and is highly sought after today. This enameling was created when black enamel was used to fill patterns incised against a background of gold. Often these pieces could be worn as mourning jewelry. The designs often incorporated leaves and flowers.
The gold is 14K (tested). Each earring measures one and one half inches from the top of the wire to the bottom of the earring. Each is three fourths of an inch at the widest. The hinge between the top and bottom allows the bottom to swing freely. These earrings are easy to secure and comfortable to wear
