This is a Pacific Island purse made entirely of seashells. The purse, the straps and even the clasp is entirely made of seashells. This is an incredibly unique and collectible purse. It has a flap over top with a beautiful clasp and two handles. The purse is substantial and will probably be used for special occasions as I feel it is too heavy for everyday wear. It is vintage NEW, never used. The bag measures 12 1/2" x 10" and the straps are a 7" drop to the bag. The off white colors of the bag are so organic and beautiful; you will fall in love with it! Note: the clasp is a flower motif made of cowry shells with a snail shell in the center of the flower. So inventive.
**Long before our era the cowry shell was known as an instrument of payment and a symbol of wealth and power. This monetary usage continued until the 20th century
