Williamsburg Art of Cookery 1938 Mint! Never Read
The Williamsburg Art of Cookery or Accomplished Gentlewoman's Companion: Being a Collection of upwards of Five Hundred of the Most Ancient & Approved Recipes in Virginia Cookery by Helen Bullock. Published by Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia, 1938, Eighth Printing.
This is an incredible find. A huge compilation of recipes in a book from 1938 that has never been used. It is hardback with a one-half (by design) book jacket that has a touch tanning. The recipes are what make this book so special: Apple Pudding, Blue Mange, Ochra Soup, Nasturtium Buds to Pickle, Corn Pancakes, Williamsburg Floating Island, Turtle Soup, Bell Fritters, Sweet Potato Biscuits, Quince Wine, Raspberry Vinegar, Lemon Cheesecakes and so much more. Every recipe is a little bit of history as well as the How To's. Lots of illustrations of Williamsburg and it's kitchens in black and white. I love the section & illustration of herbs.
