Price is for both lovely books. Both are in great condition. Both are first editions from Roycrofters. Elbert Hubbard led the Roycrofters of East Aurora New York. Along with the famous hand made oak furniture & the beautiful Arts and Crafts copper vases the Roycroft shop had a printing press devoted to the hand crafting of high quality books on famous Americans and other important people of the time. These books are devoted to Elbert Hubbard. The first book is: "Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book", 1923 Copyright by the Roycrofters ... excellent condition, very tightly bound; probably unread. There is a statement by Roycrofters that they were conserving vital materials and manpower and "conforming with the War Production Board Ruling L-245" The outside boards are deep maroon (dark red) with silver gilt title on cover and on spine. The inside boards depict photographs of Roycroft Print Shop, The Roycroft Inn, The "Craftsman" statue on the Roycroft lawn and the Tower at The Roycroft Shops. Lovely type and a lovely book. The second book is: "The Notebook of Elbert Hubbard", copyright 1927, The Roycrofters. Pictorial stiff boards are dark green with black lettering and motif. Has green tie strings. This book is in excellent condition but has a previous owners name written in ink on the first endpaper. There is a written inscription in pencil on the next page that obviously can be erased. The book has a full page portrait of Elbert Hubbard and a stunning title page. There is a pull-out sheet showing photographs of Hubbard's hand written notes and several hand made papers interspersed in the book that contain two colored sayings in gorgeous script. Still very tightly bound. Both books are extremely clean and bright without any foxing. They are wonderful to hold and wonderful to read. Don't pass up this opportunity to add these prestigious books to your library or to give someone a lasting gift. .
