Rare Collectible! "The New Connecticut Cookbook", Stated First Edition, 1947, Compiled by The Woman's Club of Westport, and illustrated by Connecticut artists. Harper & Brothers publishers, NY and London, 338 pages. This is a very scarce book to find let alone a 1st edition. The book is in excellent (appears to be unread) condition. Blue cloth boards with just some very faint rubbing on bottom & top corners from being on the shelf. It has tons of recipes submitted by the Woman's Club and lots and lots of great illustrations. Front & back endpapers are a map of Connecticut. What a find! It has the most wonderful artist renderings and recipes from the Atlantic area. (note: I understand the reprints of this book had to be copied from microfilm). Some of the unusual out-of-print recipes include Crackling Bread, Swedish Fish Souffle, Basque Salad Dressing, Mary's Hungarian Cakes, Marshmallow Boiled Frosting, Prevert's PIckled Fish, Chicken Anton Lang and much, much more. This is a hard book to part with Note: This book is not to be confused with "The Connecticut Cookbook".
