The set was probably a blank from early 1900s -- the delicately molded ribbon around widest part of cup and around the saucer interior, the scalloped cup base, and the handle form suggest a possible German origin, perhaps Rosenthal. Over a pleasing pale yellow background, the hand painted florals and leafy stalks were outlined by a confident artist's hand in a burgundy color and then embellished with gilding and bold colors of teal, sun-yellow, plum, orchid-pink and coral. The set is further embellished with over a hundred tiny enamel dots in a pretty shade of sky-blue. This truly an unusual and beautiful set is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines, nor any discernible paint loss - there is, however a very tiny nick on the rim which is under the gold trim. Thanks for dropping by!
