Lovely Nippon Octagonal Chocolate Cup and Saucer Set, Gilded Poppies, early 1900s
This stylish set features colorful, coral poppies set against an upper panel in a pale, mint green background. Delicate gold tracery outlines the features of florals and leaves. The cup measures 3 1/4" from handle to rim and stands 3" tall; saucer is 4 3/4" across. Gold detailing of flowers is bright; there is some gold wear around rims and on handle, ca. 20%. In very good condition with a little crackling in the glaze layer on the bottom of the saucer - which do not pass through the porcelain fabric (please see last photo). The set carries the Van Patten's Mark 7 (T-China E-OH Hand Painted Nippon). Thanks for stopping by!
