Pair of Gilded Embossed Motto Postcards, Roses & Orchids, Ornate Scrolling, 1910 & 1914
The pink roses card is stamped (Canadian), canceled (thumbprint) and postmarked Oct. 27, 1910 in Macleod Alta. It has inked message ("To my star patient") and an address to New York City. This card has a 'Post Card' banner used by the Success Postal Card Co. (New York) and is identified as "Motto Series No. 2". It is in very good condition with minimal edge and corner wear moderate corner wear - crimps and bends to tips of three corners.
The purple orchids card is stamped (removed), canceled and postmarked Apr. 3, 1914 in Burdett Kansas. It has a penciled message and an address to Jetmore, Kansas. The card carries a trademark for the NFA Co. (Perhaps for National Fine Arts Co., New York) and is identified as Series III-D. It is in fair/good condition with minor edge and moderate corner wear & rounding, including a crease on upper righthand corner and a bit of paper loss on tip of lower lefthand corner.
