Tibetan Dragon Turquoise and Peach Aventurine Necklace
The Baoule create art in several media, including wooden sculptures, gold and brass casting similar to their Asante ancestors, and mask and figure carvings, which have been greatly influenced by their Senufo and Guro neighbors. The Baoule belong to the Akan people who inhabit Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.
The necklace was strung on linen cord. It has beautiful African Jasper oval beads set between two bronze bead caps. They are separated by Peach Aventurine faceted nugget beads and brass snake beads.
The snake beads are handmade brass interlocking beads made to look like the vertebra of a snake. Wearing a snake vertebra was considered for protection.
The pendant is 1.5". The total drop is 2.25". This is 18".
