Red and Green Celluloid Flower Chain Necklace
This is a beautiful vintage, red rose Celluloid chain necklace from the 1940s. Really gorgeous pearlescent pinkish-red rose-buds swing gracefully from a red celluloid link chain, containing forty-seven securely interlocking links. Connecting the roses to the chain are brass loops with a nice antique patina. There are five of these roses giving the appearance that they are almost ready to burst open in full bloom. In fact, you can see the inner bulb in each rose rearing to go. If one rose smells so sweet, according to the Bard, imagine how sweet five are. Alongside each flower are textured green leaves making the entire design ever so, Springlike, even during the other seasons. There is a solid hook chain at the back, guaranteeing a secure closing.
The necklace measures 18” in total length, and due to its hook closure, it can be adjusted to shorter lengths. Each chain link measures approximately 3/8” in width. Each of the five roses ( before they open in front of your eyes), measures about 3/4” by 1”. The surrounding celluloid green leaves are 1/2 “ each. All the flowers and leaves are in excellent shape, without any cracks or breaks. This is a solidly made piece of unmarked jewelry that has held up marvelously over the decades.
