Vintage Kershaw's Cockles basket: English, circa 1950 -60s. A large wicker-woven hamper retaining the original advertising painted over a white ground, and on all four exterior sides. The interior is also painted white. It was originally used for carrying seafood into the local pubs on weekends from which the salesman sold cockles, whelks and prawns directly to the pub customer.
Condition: Very good vintage condition - structurally sound and sturdy with typical wear. Top of handle is missing some of the woven wickerwork, as shown.
Size: 20 ¾" x 14" x 7 ½" depth. Height with handle is 13".
