This is either a vintage weight lifter's belt of unconventional form, or an animal collar for perhaps a large circus-performing beast. I have no firm idea as to what the function of this belt was, but I found it to be an intriguing object worthy of prominent display. It is made from very rigid and thick, 2-ply cowhide and has a double-pronged buckle that dates it to around the 1950s. As a weight lifter's belt, it requires the wearer to have had either a wasp-sized waist of 25" to 37" or fewer ribs to begin with. Condition is very good. It very possibly had a thread but alas, no more.
