German 19th century Japanned tin bread loaf cover on a footed cutting board base, c.1880 -90. The cover is slightly domed and retains its original ox-blood red surface -now a beautifully worn patina- with faded black and gilt banded trim and brass finial knob. It rests on a base that doubles as a bread cutting board and is at the same time, both a beautiful, and functional piece.
Condition: Excellent antique condition; it is both clean and useable. No restoration.
Size: 21" length; 8" width and 7" height that includes the finial knob.
