Vintage English Garden Plant Bulb Riddle - Large Bulb Size Grader
Large English horticultural plant bulb riddle used to grade bulbs by size, c.1900 – 10. Its grand scale and visually pleasing geometric pattern of circles adds to its appeal as a decorative element and transcends its original purpose. Framed in solid Beachwood with a Beachwood 3-ply insert designed to give it added flexibility. The insert, stamped with the maker's mark: W.E Temnant, Gealding, is removable by a rotate-and-lift method, and designed to be interchangeable. It can be displayed unaided by support, as shown, mounted on a wall, or used to hold objects.
Condition: Cracks in the surface of the insert are typical pertaining to both usage-related wear, and the nature of the material. It comes in very good vintage and functional condition with good patination.
Size: 22 ½" in diameter and 5" in depth.
