19th Century French Dressing Table Mirror - Antique Empire Style Boudoir Tole Mirror
Late 19th century, ladies French tri-folding dressing table mirror with highly decorative neo-classical scenes that include maidens, cherubs, floral swags and bows depicted on the outer panels. The different scenes are lithographed onto metal panels in colors that are well preserved and on surfaces that retain their original lacquer. The mirror, which is considerably heavy for its size, can also be hung - either opened or closed- from its original metal chain. The mirror comes in excellent antique condition with light wear on one panel in the form of minor flakes that are mostly found on the maiden and one cherub. The cloth backing is frayed and the glass is very nicely foxed! The back panel is stamped "modele depose Brevite sgdg". When fully extended, the mirror measures 26 ½" x 11", or 9" x 11" when folded.
