Antique English PURE BUTTER Dairy Display Slab - 19th Century Wedgwood Stand / Parnall & Sons
English 19th century ironstone PURE BUTTER display stand made by Wedgwood for Parnall & Sons Ltd. Impressed three-letter date mark "CTY", and a standard impressed Wedgwood mark on the base dates the slab to c.1870. Originally used for displaying the product behind the shop counter, this one was sold through the shop-fitting firm of Parnall & Sons Ltd and their pictorial trademark seal featuring Justice is printed on the top. Both the lettering and advertising is transfer-printed in black and underneath the glaze. It is chipped in two places; one chip on the top rim and the other underneath. There is also a shallow hairline in the exterior glaze, as shown. No restoration. Base rim diameter is 13 ¼". Top rim diameter is 14". Height is 2".
