China Import Miniature Articulated Chinese Brass Slipper Vintage Ashtray - Molded and Hand Carved Possibly Rare - China Mark - c1930-1959

Unusual miniature small China import brass ash tray molded in the shape of a Chinese slipper, with sharply defined hand carved design on the sides, and scribed diamond on the rear. Ashtray features an unusual articulated cigarette holder inside which pivots up into place, or disappears when not in use. China import mark in on the bottom.

This unusual vintage ashtray may be a RARE item of tobacciana – so far, we have not seen another one like it.

Purchased from the estate of a Newport Rhode Island woman who traveled extensively in the Far East - acquiring many Chinese, Japanese and other oriental objects. (We have previously sold many China made items from this estate).

Overall measurements are 2-3/4" long x 1" high x 3/4" wide.

PHOTO NOTE: Photographs of Item tend to distort the clarity, color and texture of some items. The brass color is actually more vivid and the carved pattern more well-defined when viewed in person. Minor spots of discoloration and nicks appear exaggerated, and are much less noticeable when viewed in person.

CONDITION NOTE: Condition is excellent. Very small nicks, spots of wear, and pitting on the brass, some of which appear to have resulted from the hand carving process. Spots of discoloration are tiny. Inside is used but clean. May have the ordinary amount of small nicks here and there, some of which acquired when it was made, but no major scratches.
