Shaker Society Sabbathday Lake Village Community c1840 antique 19th Century vintage large five-finger antique oval box with reverse finger cover has traces of original red paint. Reverse finger boxes usually are associated with the Harvard Community; however this one is.
Measures 12-3/8" diameter x 5" high. Boxes of this size were usually for personal use; rather than for sale to the world.
Over the years, there has been some finish lost on the cover. Otherwise, this box is in wonderful shape for its age.
Came from a private Boston collection sold at auction in New Lebanon, NY in 2002.
