1894 New York City Manhattan SoHo section vintage real photo stereo view from Broadway and Prince Street Noerh - taken from a window of the old Metropolitan Hotel. The traffic - all street trolley cars, horse drawn vehicles and pedestrians - are all clearly visible, and in stunning 3-D, through the stereo viewer.
Automobiles have not yet made their appearance, and a street sweeper with a push-broom could still safely work in the street at mid-day! Also visible through the stereo viewer are several readable are readable shop signs.
The Metropolitan Hotel was opened September 1, 1852. A large hotel for its day, it occupied four floors of a brownstone building above fashionable Broadway shops for 300' (a full city block) and another 200' on Prince Street. It could accommodate six hundred guests, in steam-heated rooms and in "family apartments" with private drawing rooms. The Metropolitan was demolished in 1895.

PHOTO NOTE: The focus of the actual albumen (sepia toned) real photo images is sharp and in generally good condition. Curved cards do not always scan or photo well. The actual images as viewed through a stereo viewer are MUCH sharper than they appear in the photo images. The grainy texture is not present in the original photos. Light scratches and small defects are accentuated by the photo process, and most are imperceptible through the stereo viewer. Bright spots and shiny areas are all reflections from the camera flash, and do not appear on the actual photos.
3-D EFFECT: Curved mounted card creates an exceptional 3-D effect through the stereo viewer.
CONDITION NOTE: This image is much rougher than what we normally offer, but because of its age, and the exceptionally interesting detail, we have made an exception in this case. The card itself is in excellent condition. There are two spots of damage to the right photo - the largest is at the far right margin, but because of its location, is almost out of normal sight-range through the stereo viewer. The left photo has an unfortunately located spot of damage just to the left of the street sweeper, that can clearly be seen through the stereo viewer. However, because the defect does not involve any of the important figures in the image, we can look around this defect, due to the exceptional quality of the detail otherwise offered by this view.
