Circa 1870 Early United States Postal Worker Tintype Photograph - Rare

Extremely rare tintype, or ferrotype, hand-tinted photograph of young early postman - perhaps from the predecessor of the United States Postal Service - the United States Post Office. The medallion on his hat features oak leaves & the number 189. You will not find an earlier mailman image than this one.

Hand-written on the CDV album page from which this image was taken was the name Fred Kingman, but no address was listed. However, CDV images in the album were by Midwestern photographers - some from Chicago.

Measures 3-1/2" x 2-3/8". Condition is very nice with only a few slight nicks here and there.
