Vintage Country Kitchen Treen - Large Tiger Maple Wooden Kitchen Spoon - Hand-Carved with Scribe Marks

Vintage early country kitchen treen - large tiger maple wooden spoon features an exquisite finish with scribed lines and stars on the top of the handle. Hand carved branch notch in the lower side is shaped into a hook for hanging.

This outstanding primitive spoon came from the Ridgeway House, a wonderful period colonial home in Plainfield CT, featured in "Country Living" just a few years ago. Mrs. Ridgeway spent a lifetime filling this great house with wonderful 18th and early 19th Century Americana, which was sold at auction last summer after her passing. The spoon is most likely 18th - early 19th century, but we do not know for sure. What we can say for sure is this is absolutely the loveliest wood grain we have every seen in a spoon.

CONDITION NOTE: Excellent shape. A small crack on the front center edge of the bowl is its only flaw.

Much larger (18" end-to-end) than it appears in our pictures. The bowl is 5" long; 3 1/2" in diameter; and 1 1/2" deep.
