This plate is a Memorial to President Garfield's death in 1881. There were a number of pattern glass memorials produced for Garfield's death in 1881. This plate was produced by Campbell, Jones and Co. in 1881. This plate has a pressed and frosted bust of Garfield in the center with the words "Memorial" along the decorated rim. The words Patd Applied For are present in small letters above the portrait. The plate is 10 inches in diameter. The edges of the plate are serrated and I can find two very small flakes off of the underside of the serrated rim as the only flaws. This is a very nice historical piece of Early American Pattern Glass.
