This large 11 inch diameter plate is another of the memorial plates produced to honor President Garfield's untimely death by an assassin's bullet. This plate and the Garfield Drape Pattern are attributed to Adams Glass Co. Pittsburgh, PA. The plate has a scalloped rim. The broad inner rim gently slopes down to the center of the plate. The sloping inner rim has the characteristic Garfield Drape design. The center of the plate has a bust of President Garfield surrounded by the words "We Mourn Our Nation's Loss". Beneath these words are a row of tiny stars and the words Born Nov 19, 1831, Shot July 2, 1881, Died Sep 19, 1881. The general pattern has also been known as Canadian Drape. The pattern has no known reproductions. The glass is clear and bright and there are no chips or cracks.
