Vintage Napier Gold Toned Necklace with Huge Red Glass Cabochon
The necklace is in Mint condition and has no gold wear at all. The clasp is in perfect working order. It measures 16 3/4" long x 7/8" wide. The beautiful red cabochon piece measures 2" across. It is stunning and feels beautiful on. It is a super high quality piece which can be dressed up with a fancy pair of red pumps, or dressed down with a simple white t-shirt. This is a real gem! Napier is one of the oldest costume jewelry company's. The company's history can be traced back to 1882 and became Carpenter and Bliss. After WWI, the firm shifted its emphasis from silver products to production of modern jewelry. James Napier became President in 1920 and the company adopted the name Napier-Bliss. In 1922 the name was changed to simply Napier.
Napier designed and manufactured a simple yet elegant line of costume jewelry. Napier Jewelry Was Produced In fairly large quantities and marketed through A diverse array of outlets which included major department stores, gift shops, and jewelry stores Nationwide.
In The 1950's Napier Presented First Lady Mamie Eisenhower with A specially designed elephant bracelet, A favorite piece that she wore almost daily.
The "Napier" Mark In block letters was used beginning In 1922. It Was Used Until The company sas sold To Victoria & Company In the late 1980's At Which Time The Mark was changed To Napier in script.
