This basic black dress was quite fashionable in the late 40s - early 50s, and it is so wearable today as well. It is solid black with a simple embellishment of satin around the neck line. The fabric feels like crepe. It has darts at the waist that make it blouse out at the bust. It is likely the dress originally had shoulder pads, but there are none currently. There is a metal side zipper and a short zipper at the back of the neck to fit over the head.
This dress is in very good condition - the fabric itself is in great condition with no tears, holes, frays or stains. There is a spot on one shoulder where the seam needs to be re-stitched, and there have been two extra holes punched in the belt. There is no size or fabric label, but there is a maker label that says Mynette.
