This small book measures 4" x 6 1/2". It has 418 pages. The spine and corners are bound with leather as the back boards are covered in marbled paper. The title is "The Republic of Letters, A selection in Poetry and Prose, from the Works of the Most Eminent Writers with Many Original Pieces" by A. Whitelaw. There are 4 volumes. This is Volume I. It was printed in Glasgow Blackie & Son, East Clyde Street MDCCCXXXIII (1833). It is dedicated to Thomas Brydson, Esq. This book is in well used condition. There is foxing to the pages and wear to the cover. There is a split in the spine at the bottom. The pages are tight.
