Circa 1910 Rowntree Chocolates Tin, Pencil Box "GRACE DARLING"

Grace Darling is a commemorative tin of a heroic deed. Grace braved the high seas with her father, a lighthouse keeper to rescue the shipwrecked Fortarshire in 1838. This tin is long and narrow to be used as a pencil box once the chocolates have been eaten. The lid has a nice shape and raised edge for being used as a pen tray. It is lithographed with Grace in the center. The left side shows Grace and Father going out to sea. The right side has the return with the survivors. The sides of the tin are decorated with roses. The tin measures 11 1/2" x 3" x 1 1/2". The bottom has the Rowntree & Co. Ltd. Logo advertising. This tin is in very good condition.
