Victorian Sea Shell Box, Made in France

This small trinket box is marked Made in France. The lid is covered in sea shells. This type box is often referred to as sailor's valentines. They were sold as souvenirs in coastal towns. This box measures 5" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2". The sides are covered in a green print paper. The inside is lined in bright pink paper. The hinge is intact. The bottom is covered in wood grain paper and marked Made in France. Very good condition for the age of a fragile box.
